Class Description & Teacher Bio:
- Art Appreciation: Creation to Contemporary is a course designed to broaden your students' knowledge of art, what it is and how to discuss it. This course will cover the Elements and Principles of Art and Design to equip students for discussions about all forms of visual art from cave paintings to contemporary abstracts. Students will learn and become familiar with a broad history of art and how techniques and innovations changed the art world across the centuries. This course is for both the art lover and the art novice. Assignments will center around discussions, quizzes, and student presentations.

Anderson earned his B.F.A. in Sequential Art from SCAD, graduating Summa Cum Laude with an Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement. While at SCAD, Anderson won several awards for his work in the student magazine, including best Cover Art and Political Cartoon. He has illustrated three children’s picture books and innumerable technical and scientific figures published by Apologia Educational Ministries. He created a 150 page Graphic Novel, Fear Hunters, which was funded on Kickstarter and raised 152% of its initial goal. He has also created and self-published over 20 different mini-comics and sketchbook collections. He is currently working on a 100 page comic with Source Point Press to be published in late 2021. Anderson is married to his wife of 3 years, Laura, and father to their baby boy, Vincent. When he is not drawing, he is taking walks, enjoying the local wildlife, and rock climbing.
